Welcome back to Frankie's Puppy Pen!

Fabulous Frankie has been continuing to build his confidence in public places, and this time, he has been wearing his smart Hearing Dogs training jacket. As well as making Frankie look super smart, the jacket also helps other members of the public to understand that Frankie is learning to be a hearing dog and shouldn’t be distracted.

On a recent visit to a homeware shop, Frankie enjoyed showing off his super settling skills, and did a great job of not getting distracted by the unusual items on the shelves around him.

Shopping trips are full of distractions for a curious pup – such as unfamiliar items on shelves, people walking by with trolleys and loud announcements – there are so many sights, sounds and smells to take in. Through positive reinforcement from his trainers, Frankie is learning that if he stays calm and focused, he will be rewarded with lots of praise, treats or his favourite toy. Through this style of reward-based training, Frankie is gradually associating shopping as a fun and enjoyable experience.

One day, Frankie will bring comfort, confidence and companionship to the life of a deaf person. This would not be possible without your support in his training.

So, until next time, thank you so much for sponsoring Frankie!
