Kong recipes - Pumpkin stuffing

This simple blend makes a sticky stuffing that can be smeared inside a treat dispenser such as a Kong. Alternatively, use an ice-cube tray to create frozen treats to cool your dog on a hot day.

Please note...

  • Treats like this should be factored in as part of your dog’s daily food allowance so other meals should be reduced accordingly
  • Ingredients swaps – If you need to make any substitutes or additions to this recipe, please refer to our list of safe foods for dogs and our listing of foods poisonous to dogs
  • *Always check the ingredients in peanut butter – many everyday foods like this contain hidden dangers; all artificial sweeteners are highly toxic to dogs (all artificial sweeteners such as XylitolAspartame etc are toxic to dogs)

Ingredients

  • 200g pumpkin puree
  • 60g pure 100% crunchy peanut butter* (all artificial sweeteners such as XylitolAspartame etc are toxic to dogs)
  • 30g natural live yoghurt (optional)

Method

  1. Mix all together into a smooth paste
  2. Can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days
  3. Push the stuffing mix inside a treat dispenser (such as a Kong) for lots of licking fun to keep your dog amused
  4. Or stuff the mixture into an ice-cube tray and freeze for up to 6 months ready to give your dog an ice-cool treat on a hot day.
