Could you help train our dogs?
We urgently need more volunteers to help us care for and train the next generation of life-changing hearing dogs.
Our clever hearing dogs are specially trained to alert deaf people to important sounds like a smoke alarm, a doorbell, or a baby’s cry. Just as importantly, they offer companionship, emotional support, and help reduce feelings of isolation.
A hearing dog can be truly life-changing, and their journey starts with you. With your time, care and commitment, you could hep a young dog grow into a confident, capable partner for someone who needs them. Whether you’re welcoming a playful puppy into your home or a dog in its final stage of training, you’ll be part of something extraordinary.
What you'll do
We’re looking for dedicated individuals to support our dog training programme in one of two volunteer roles: Puppy Trainer or Dog Trainer. Both roles involve working closely with our expert dog training team to help a young dog develop the skills they need to thrive as a future hearing dog.
You might be caring for a puppy from 8 weeks old, helping them learn the basics and explore the world safely, or supporting a young dog from around 12 months old as they build confidence and reinforce more advanced training goals.
You’ll be involved in:
- Providing full-time care in a safe and loving home.
- Attending weekly training sessions and classes
- Helping a young dog feel comfortable and confident in everyday environments and practising it’s training as guided by our expert dog trainers.
- Attending to a dog's basic needs, such as regular exercise, feeding, and ensuring their overall welfare is met.
You’re welcome to express interest in one or both roles, or we’ll help match you with a dog based on your availability, experience, and home environment.
